Great Women Who Fought For The Freedom

This is the historic tale of Queen Chennama an unrivaled, fearless & valorous personage. Chennama who lived towards the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century is a brilliant character who laid her life for the freedom struggle against the British Raj. She shone on the horizon like a brilliant star and spread all her light anhancing the lives of all her people. This was the period when the British East India Company had managed to bring 70 percent of India under control. Chennama emerged to challenge this foreign rule. Chennama the empress of the southern kingdom of Kittur was the epitome of beauty, trust, hope and spirit. She laid the foundation of the struggle against the British for India's freedom. It was only after Channama's life that the pages of the 1874 mutiny were written. And another 90 years afterwards in 1947 India finally got its independence.

Channama from birth itself had decided herself to serving her motherland. In her youth itself she had lost her husband 'Raja Mallasurge'. After his death she had not only taken care of her kingdom as its rightful queen but had donned the mantle of a warrior to fight the British and had refused to be brought to her knees.

We have tried to capture and bring before you most of the strengths and the unexplored aspects of Chennama's life in a very realistic manner capturing all the essence of the story and its period.
